Friday! The Friday before the Sunday which could possibly be the most exhausting day of my life. Yes it’s the Great North Run. As this may be the last missive I pen for a while (I don’t know what the rules are with intensive care and blogging) I will regale you all of my training regime. This week I have done 140 miles, some of it obviously was on my motorbike, I say some of it, I mean most of it. When I say most of it, I rode to catterick and back, but while there, I walked a bit, to the canteen and a little corridor 😦
The only thing keeping my morale up is the thought of starting my University studies on the Monday after the Sunday that could possibly be the second most exhausting day of my life. I’m under no illusion that if I don’t die or wind up in hospital on Sunday, I may end up a mess on Monday! Hospital or. Or, this is definitely NOT the way to train for a half marathon. But by cracky, if I finish it on my feet then I shall announce it to the world that a fat knacker of an old man has managed this feat with NO training.
I’m actually writing this whilst eating a fucking cake in a coffee shop! I’m not helping myself am I? On the plus side, it’s a sunny day today so I’m happy, and the forecast for Sunday isn’t hot, nor are they expecting a hurricane or a meteor shower, so I’m happy and sad at the same time for that. If, however, North Korea decides to send the world into meltdown by bating America a little more, this run may seem of little consequence and importance. So all in all, a mixed weekend ahead!
