Once again we stand somber for the fallen, we lay the blood red poppies at the feet of our lost and beloved comrades in arms, who throughout their fight, they gave their all. Some never to return, some returning but still there. Looking forward to the days when no more blood shall be spilled, no more friends laid to rest no more countries in need of help. Will we ever forget them? In my heart I pray to whoever listens, NO!
For if we do, we trample on the souls of freedom, the men and women who fought for a better place for all to live. We disregard the families who have lost children or parents, we lose interest in what we have been granted by the sacrifice of the many! We can not ignore our past, our struggle, our future, we cannot close our eyes and pretend this is what the world owes us, we cannot stand against our fellow men and dictate the values granted to us by our heroes onto the weak.
I will remember the reasons I fought. I fought to allow freedom, freedom of movement, freedom of religion, freedom of speech. But if anyone impedes these reasons, then woe betide the next step. Although I serve no more, my values are still ingrained within my DNA. I will fight still for the rights of others to be who they want to be without condemnation, without prejudice, without argument form me. This is why I apologise with every fibre of my existence to anyone I have offended, anyone I have made feel uncomfortable and anyone I have upset by the thing I say or do. But believe me, I am there for you all.
