Morning in the North

From the top of the double decked omnibus you get to see all sorts in the morning before. School or work! Husbands standing outside their front doors, coffee and cigarettes in hand bestowing passers by with a hearty ‘hulloo’ mothers dragging their offspring like dropped jackets in the playground because of their unwillingness to get dressed in time! Girls with far too much make up caked around their faces as they prim themselves for the coming daily grind of the office and young upstarts chuffing on their illicit ‘tabs’ (as though NO ONE is going to smell it when they get into the classroom!

Through my home town the X21 headed towards my goal, Newcastle college. Why go there? My appointment for entrance onto an access course and as I didn’t have a clue where I was going I took the earlier bus for a bit of wiggle room. This is the place where my Apple Watch came into its own. Setting the postcode and with me hands in my pockets I followed the taps on my wrist. One tap for left, two taps for right! I was like a biological ‘Tom Tom’ it took only fifteen minutes to get into the campus (more time to find the bloody right building)

Anyway. The advise I was given at the open day, wasn’t quite the advice I was lead to believe. It was with a heavy heart I took onboard all the new (more relevant) stuff. My soul started to wilt and I felt the old demon lurking behind my shoulders. A few more minutes later though and a weight was lifted from me with more positive advice from a different person. (It’s how the information is meted out that can affect the way one feels, I’m sure) so after about an hour I left the campus a bit cheerier than I went in, but with less of a clue what happens next!

With its ups and it’s downs, it’s wrongs and it’s rights the day was peppered with deep thoughts, smiles and wisdom. Then I went out last night and got smashed on Jack Daniels and all my worries disappeared as I stood on a bar stool and belted out ‘Bat out of hell’. So as it goes, NOTHING can beat a good drink and a sing song after a strange day!
