With the sun bleaching the skies and warming the grass, it seems that the seasons have finally turned a corner! Mind you it’s only taken a few weeks from the clocks moving in some daft direction to reassure us that the year is moving along! Taking the opportunity to get some of the weather for myself, Big Red was wheeled out his home and readied for a run in the sun! (And what a run it was/is)
The small villages around the northeast far outweigh the pretend chocolate box places more southerly! Real people with real lives living as they have for generations! No jet set fly by night pseudo upper echelon here. True gritty folk from hard backgrounds and harder areas. Northeast stock at its finest! (Mind you, cutting the village lawns with a flymo and flipflops does bode for an accident with the old folk) I said they were hard, not bright!
Trees in the throes of new life, daffodils in the pangs of death, sheep, lambs, calfs, nesting swans, it’s all around here right now. You forget how to look at the world from the seat of your car. You wizz passed at the speed of sound with the world in a blur (granted you could go quicker on a bike but those bends are a bastard at speed around country lanes). Actually passed by a proper meadow today, I mean a real medowed field, filled with grasses and plants that you just don’t see anymore (apart from the latest BBC docudrama set in the last few centuries)
So today, a long ride in the sun. Through numerous villages, around many country roads and down many more memory lanes. At times like these I forget me troubles, ignore the trials of the day and just ‘be’. It’s easy. When all you have to think about is yourself (oddly enough, that’s just what i want right now) so whatever you are up to, get yourself out into the sunshine and just live a little. Have a walk, a run, a bike ride, a car ride, a bus ride just see the sun (because you can just about guarantee it ain’t lasting long)
