Edinburgh, lovely place, lovely food, lovely people (except the poor unfortunate who threw himself off a monument and head dived into the road) oh dear, how sad, never mind! The weather sort of reverted back to normal Scottish weather yesterday for my trip around the castle (snow/ sleet and rain) but that just didn’t deny my resolve. I was going to walk up that bloody hill if it killed my friend! (And it nearly did)
Inside the ramparts (see how I got all time team and Baldrik there?) inside the ramparts there was a veritable village, now if you haven’t been there thinking its ‘just a castle’ think again! It’s a full days walk around! Ignore the plethora of Chinese tourists (in fact the only Scottish accents I heard over the 48 hours was a couple of drug addled pikeys arguing over the colour of a dragon across the road). There are jewels there are armourments there are prisons, shops, cafes and a wonderful view of the ancient city itself.
After a brew, a cake and another walk around. It was time to bid farewell to Scotland! Not before a look around one of the main shopping areas of course! £300 for a fucking belt, A FUCKING BELT) well I bought some Remegel for me indigestion after those prices made me nauseous! More stations and taxis and trains and stuff and I was finally home! My own bed, my own couch and my own telly (with NO Scottish accents telling me about what THEIR government has done)
Time for reflection and thoughtfulness! A country’s capital is always somewhere you should visit I think (it IS the capital isn’t it?) a ghost walk around the seedy streets at dark is always a cool evenings activity, the local cuisine should ALWAYS be sampled and you should be careful of high monuments where suicidal people congregate (or wear a hard hat). Seriously, Edinburgh was fantastic! Give it a crack! (Not some crack) and now it’s back to my daily routine. Have a fantastic weekend whatever you have planned 🙂
