Well blow me over with a feather duster if I haven’t got my first certificates as a bloody diving instructor. ’twas the other day when Paul was asked if he could take on three students and teach them to dive. I could see the consternation in his face (or was it wind?) the other instructors were busy in the water already and I was just standing there licking my elbow!!!! Three Australians, two and a half days one virgin instructor. Of course I was ready…. I’m a “Geezer” I’m always ready. I had to find my instructors manual and read up on what the hell I was going to do but I didn’t think it would be that difficult. They came back after lunch and I was ready for them!!!!! My first class, my first students, my first Certs on the way!!!! I needed help!
Sofia came in and gave me a briefing on what the hell I was supposed to do properly (which is always a good thing really) so they got wet and enjoyed it no end! To be honest, I couldn’t have asked for a better start to my instructing lark than with these three. They were attentive, fun to work with and eager todo the skills so they could get out in the wobbly stuff whoever they were near a centre. The dives went fantastic, problems were solved and the three guys loved the course. Zachary, Sam and Ed will be forever burnt into my mind as my first !!!!
I bought a shorty wetsuit the other week and deployed it two days ago when the wind was non existent and the sea was as calm as a psychotic on antidepressants. I just snorkelled mind you, the water is warm around the surface, but I’m not stupid, I know it’s a bit chilly down the bottom somewhere. But I did get some pictures for me dad. I think I went a bit to red on the filter on me lens, but hey, I’m no David Bailey. So the weather is good, the diving is great, the sea is warm and the fish (taste lovely) are special.
I know I getting more readers over the world, and that’s a good thing, so to all of you, new and old, I appreciate the time you take reading these notes. On another page in this blog I have started a life story that can be described colourful (but then again isn’t everyone’s ) x
