Brilliant, day three in this new paradise, and the night was going along sweet. Having a chill out with a local brew and a chicken wrap and everything was kosher. Having a look at some emails and watching a video seemed the thing to do, then all of a sudden, darkness. Total and utter darkness I haven’t seen since Baghdad 2004 when the insurgents hit the power supplies. Oh well, candles and good cheer all round was the name of the game on the roof top of the bar/hotel where I’m staying.
Watching the local potheads trying to find somewhere to smoke when they came back on was funny, like watching cockroaches scurry when the kitchen light goes on. It seemed strange that the colourful vista of the seafront cafand bars was suddenly black as ink (not blue ink) because that would be wrong on every level. I must admit, the social scene when the power is down seemed better than the banter when they are n.
To today’s activities, snorkelling along the reef for part of a Dive Masters training I was acutely aware of how friggin big it is, now the other day I was mesmerised when I was scooting along the bottom watching the fish above and around me, today looking down at the beautiful colours and (it seemed) thousands of fish below me it struck me that wether I’m on top or on the bottom, I don’t really care, as long as I’m there watching nature in its own back yard.
A quick précis of today is all I can actually give you as I have spent the rest of the evening dong bloody sums, honestly I’m 44 and I had homework…. Physics homework,,,, I was a physics teacher,,,, and I couldn’t get it through my thick blonde head. It’s probably wrong and if it is, ill smile sweetly and do I all again another day.
To you all (you know who you are)
