Nonsense to the Nth degree

A mistake you can make
when you’re both on a break
for the sake of your sanity true!
You could fake a heartache
and await the uptake 
of a keepsake from somebody new.

But to see what will be
(Be it you, be it me)
cast on waves that could pull your ship down
You could plea (for a fee)
though no one would agree
once you’re caught then you surely must drown.

Don’t be sad, I’m not bad
and I won’t make you mad
as I’ve lived a most wonderful life.
Like me dad, I’ll be glad
as the life that I had 
has convinced me I don’t need a wife.
